In 1925, urban planner & historian Lewis Mumford described four “great tides” of migration that reflected the economic transformation of the US. Eight decades later, Robert Fishman (professor of architecture & urban planning at the University of Michigan) noted the large-scale return of people to global cities, labeling it the Fifth Migration. Today’s great tide, the Sixth Migration, is ebbing from global cities & towards a better quality of life.
I think a Columbus-Pittsburgh collaboration is a great idea. I have visited several times, but didn't know where to find the Tech community. Glad to find you here. There is a group from Columbus who went to the AITP 11/7/08 - 11/9/08 Region 18 Leadership Retreat in Pittsburgh. Maybe they created some working relationships. Has Pittsburgh had a startup weekend yet? That's where I met Floozyspeak, rockson and Wyliemac. Looking forward to future collaboration with you!
